This shelter was built within an existing City of Toronto municipal building previously used for office space and storage. The existing building systems required extensive upgrading to extend their lifespans. We provided a new elevator, new exterior insulation, upgrade of the existing base building structural system, and new exterior cladding. In addition, the interior was reconfigured to accommodate social services and programs for 100 residents.
Our goal was to provide calm, comfortable spaces where residents could live and receive services with dignity.
